DAY 1

Rivertrees Country Inn

Arrive into Kilimanjaro International Airport ( KIA/JRO ) where you will be met by your Gilroy & Camm 4WD vehicle and private driver guide. From here you will be transferred, by road, to your Lodge. On arrival at your Lodge, you will be assisted with check in and shown your room. At a time convenient to you, there will be a short safari briefing; the rest of the day is at your leisure.

 

DAY 2

Tarangire Treetops

After breakfast and check out you will depart and make your way towards Tarangire National Park, this will take you roughly 2hours. On entering the park you will enjoy the rest of the morning and early afternoon, game driving and exploring all that this park has to offer. You can expect to see a large Elephant population, aswell as the plains game and some predators too. After enjoying your picnic lunch, you will make your way to your Lodge. On arrival you will be assisted with check in and shown your breathtaking room, nestled in the trunk and branches of the enormous resident trees. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure, you may also opt for the night game drive. Often taken just after dusk, a night game drive at Tarangire Treetops is a rare opportunity to see how the bush ‘comes alive’ after dark. Driving with an experienced and qualified guide, this 1.5-hour drive around the environs of Treetops provides an insight into the nocturnal wildlife that is often overlooked or not accessible to visitors who stay within the confines of the national parks. With a keen eye and unbroken concentration, there is much to see and wonder at on a Treetops night game drive.

 

Day 3

Tarangire Treetops

After a leisurely breakfast, you will enjoy a morning game drive. Tarangire is the sixth largest national park in Tanzania. The park is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing lions. Visitors to the park can expect to see any number of resident zebra and wildebeest in addition to the less common animals. Other common animals include waterbuck, giraffe, and olive baboons. Home to more than 550 species, the park is a haven for bird enthusiasts who can expect so see dozens of species even in the dry season. The swamps are the focus of the largest selection of breeding birds anywhere in the world. Yellow-collared Lovebirds are a common bird sighting in the trees along the Tarangire River. After lunch you may choose to go an a unique walking safari. There is no better way to up close and personal to the wild than to take a walking safari. Feel the ancient earth beneath every step you take as you tread on the tracks of animals that have walked the same path minutes before. In the company of an experienced guide, learn about the flora as well as the fauna, and begin to understand the true majesty of the indigenous peoples that live and thrive on the land.

 

Day 4

Exploreans Ngorongoro Lodge

After a relaxed breakfast and then check out, you will make your way to Lake Manyara National Park. You will carry a packed lunch with you as you game drive through this park. Created to protect its magnificent elephant herds, Manyara National Park is equally famous for the unusual behavior of its tree-climbing lions as for the flocks of pink flamingos that inhabit the lake’s shores. Large numbers of buffalo, cheetah, leopard, Maasai giraffe and hippo can all the encountered. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, with more than 400 species, particularly waterfowl and migrants. In October, migrant species arrive at Manyara from as far as the Arctic. The tree-climbing lions of Lake Manyara, which prefer resting in tree branches during the day rather than dozing on the ground, have become iconic of this incredible park. As the afternoon cools, you will make your way out of Lake Manyara National Park and to your Lodge, situated just 15 minutes from the Ngorongoro National Park entrance. On arrival you will be given a short safari briefing about the Lodge, before being shown your room. Enjoy a sundowner with the option of some shopping at the Boutique or maybe an hour’s massage as the afternoon slowly slips by.

 

Day 5

Exploreans Ngorongoro Lodge

After breakfast you will make to the Ngorongoro Park entrance, on completion of the paperwork, you will make your way down into the Crater for a full day. You have your own vehicle and guide so the timings are for you to discuss and decide upon. If you wish a packed lunch can be arranged, or maybe a packed breakfast, the latter allowing you to descend into the crater before the majority of other safari enthusiasts. Within the crater itself you have a very real chance of seeing the Big 5 and whilst the laws dictate that you stay on the roads at all times. There are many to choose from affording you every opportunity to see a wide variety of game and to get close enough for some excellent holiday snaps. Return to your Lodge at a time convenient to you. On returning you may wish to enjoy the Lodges WiFi, or indeed just a hot shower and a delicious dinner.

 

Day 6

Lemala Mara Serengeti

After breakfast and check out you will drive the short distance, of roughly an hour, to the Manyara Airstrip, where you will board your scheduled service to the Serengeti. This flight will take roughly 1hr30mins, depending on the routing that day. On arrival into your Airstrip you will be met by your Camps vehicle and driver guide. After loading up the custom made 4WD safari vehicle you will game drive towards your lodge. Depending on the location of the Migration, you will either be staying at Lemala Mara Serengeti or similar. Either property will have the unique and sophisticated setting, befitting of this itinerary. On arrival you will be given a short safari briefing before being shown your room. After freshening up, enjoy a light lunch and relax in the shade of your rooms verandah, enjoying the Vista’s so closely associated with being on safari in the Serengeti. Once the day cools sufficiently, head out on a shared game drive, with some of the other guests staying in this small and exclusive camp. Return at dusk, in time to watch the sunset on yet another remarkable day.

 

Day 7

Lemala Mara Serengeti

Arguably the most famous National Park in the World, the Serengeti perhaps defines the safari experience as surely as the wildlife that inhabits it. Established in 1951, and covering an area of almost 15,000 sq km –an area comparable to the state of Connecticut or Northern Ireland, the Serengeti hosts a fantastically diverse eco-system. The famous short and long grass plains of the south slowly unfurl into the Acacia savannah of the central area, the hilly, more densely wooded areas of the north, and the extensive woodland in the western corridor, each with its own resident variations of African wildlife. It is worth noting, that the Migration is governed by weather patterns, of which no-one has control over, so there is always an element of luck when out on safari looking for game. That being said the Serengeti is well known not only for the migration but also for the extensive variety of residential game, which is prolific throughout the year and as such, this great Park rarely disappoints. Return to your camp at dusk.

Day 8

The Manta Resort

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge

The only permanent luxury lodge in Lake Manyara National Park, this lodge is renowned for its romantic stilted tree house suites that are shaded by a mahogany forest. After an exhilarating game drive, guests stop for sundowners on the lakeshore below the Great Rift Valley wall. After a relaxed breakfast and then check out, you will make your way out of Lake Manyara National Park, and from here, climb the Rift Valley Escarpment, stopping as you go to take in the breath taking views. The drive, on good roads, will take you roughly 1hour to the entrance of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On completion of the vehicle paperwork you will drive on through the gates and upto the Crater Rim, where you will have a chance to see this magnificent Crater. You wish to pause at the viewing point, where you can take the chance to soak in this unique spectacle before heading onto your lodge. On arrival you will be given a short safari briefing about the Lodge, before being shown your room. Enjoy a leisurely lunch, the option of some shopping at the Boutique or maybe an hours massage as the afternoon slowly slips by.

 

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
